I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist with fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry. I received my undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and my medical degree from SUNY Syracuse Health Science Center.  I completed my adult psychiatry training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center and then a completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell.

I have worked as a psychiatrist and mental health expert both in New York and internationally. I have worked with international organizations in such countries as Haiti, Sri Lanka and Malawi, using my skills to provide care to people whose access to care was limited by conflict, natural disasters, or lack of resources. In Rwanda I was a fellow in Global Mental Health Delivery with Partners in Health and the Harvard Medical School. I have developed curriculum, lectured, and provided bedside teaching for medical students, psychiatric and pediatric residents, and other allied health professionals in both academic and clinical settings. I have combined my international work with clinical practice in New York, where I have worked with diverse populations in both outpatient and inpatient settings treating children, adolescents and adults.

I have expertise in medication management as well as in various modalities of psychotherapy such as integrative psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, focusing on patients’ strengths to guide their treatment, and I utilize several therapeutic approaches drawing from both psychodynamic and behavioral frameworks as it fits with the needs of the patient and the family. Finally, I have deep expertise in cross cultural issues, in treating anxiety and depression, and in helping individuals, families and communities recover from traumatic experiences.
